![]() I couldn't hit the broad side of a barn with any of them. I was 16 and was sick and tired of using all the "hand-me-down" guns I had been hunting with. This reminds me of one I found in the late summer of 1979. I realize their gun division no longer exists, but someone might still provide you an answer.Ī few years back, I wrote to them about my dad's 725 and his 11-48 and they had no problem with telling me the date of manufacture (1953, btw, in case you were interested). Give them the model of the gun, the serial number and ask them when the gun was made. I attached a few pictures I took from my phone. Its only fair to "buy" the other 2/3'rds from my siblings so I would like to have an idea of value. I will probably keep it as a fun, unique little reminder of an unexpected hand me down. What would the market value be on something like this? I doubt I'm going to sell it (or even fire it). Will this work on it or do I need something stronger? I use Breakfree CLP and Hoppes #9 for my guns.Anything I should be looking for, mechanically or ortherwise? I assume it should fire without issue (post cleaning and lubrication). It should be somewhere around 1980, but would be great to confirm that if possible. I would like try and figure out the date of manufacture of the gun.I am going to disassemble and give it a thorough cleaning. There are some minor rust spots on the barrel but other than it looks pretty good. Time passed and with the gun out of sight, out of mine, he forgot about it and it sat there for ~40 years. He brought it home and put it in the closet until he figured out what he wanted to do with it. According to my mom, she remembers that he won it at a charity event they attended, likely sometime around ~1980. I don't think my Dad ever shot a gun in his life. I would describe it more as a soft leather pouch than a case. It was in what I assume to be the case that was provided with gun at the time. In the back of the closet, buried behind and beneath 50 years of "stuff" I found a Remington 870 Wingmaster 20 gauge. I was cleaning out my parents house as we are moving my mom.
